WHAT TO EXPECT
What happens
during your visit
Your skin isn't one size fits all, so your peel shouldn't be either. Every visit starts with a quick skin assessment, and from there I choose the peel that fits your goals and your skin type. Chemical exfoliation works by dissolving the buildup of dead cells that leaves skin looking dull, congested, or uneven, so the smoother and brighter complexion underneath can come through. The strength is matched to how your skin looks that day, and we'll go over what to expect before anything is applied. Because a peel is more active than a standard facial, it's reserved for returning clients whose skin I've already had a chance to get to know.

GOOD TO KNOW
Frequently asked questions
What is chemical exfoliation?
Instead of scrubbing, it uses acids like AHAs, BHAs, or enzymes to dissolve the bonds holding dead skin cells together. It reaches more evenly than physical exfoliation and helps with dullness, texture, clogged pores, and uneven tone. Will I peel afterward?
Usually not in a visible way. The strengths we use in a facial setting are chosen to refresh your skin, not to cause sheeting or flaking. Some people notice light dryness for a day or two, which a good moisturizer handles.Does it sting?
You may feel a mild tingle or warmth while it's on, which is normal and fades quickly. It shouldn't feel like burning. If it ever does, tell us and we'll neutralize or remove it right away.Is it safe for sensitive skin?
It can be. We assess your skin first and choose the type and strength to match, often starting with gentler enzymes or lactic acid for sensitive skin. If your skin isn't up for it that day, we'll recommend something else.Do I need to stop anything before my appointment?
Pause retinol, retinoids, and other strong exfoliating products for three to five days beforehand, and avoid waxing or heavy sun exposure that week. If you're on a prescription like tretinoin or Accutane, let us know when you book. What aftercare should I follow?
Wear SPF every day for at least a week, since fresh skin is more sensitive to the sun. Hold off on retinoids and other exfoliants for a few days, skip hot yoga and saunas for the first 24 hours, and keep things simple with a gentle cleanser and moisturizer.
